    A gift from the Gods!

    The year 2009 has been described by some as a «gift from the gods». Nature offered us an ideal summer: hot, dry and very sunny. Everything was in place to harvest great grapes. 

    The bunches were in an exceptional state of health, without any deterioration. The juices from this harvest had a natural balance close to perfection. Made from seven of the emblematic grands crus of the Maison, this cuvée is anchored in history by the nobility of its origins. 

    In equal proportions, the Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs enter into synergy with the great Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims: two exceptional terroirs at the service of an extraordinary cuvée. In the pure tradition of the great vintages of the Maison, Champagne Pommery signs with Grand Cru 2009 a precise, fine and intense vintage.

    Tasting Notes:
    On the eye, pale gold with delicate golden hues, signs of elegance and maturity. Exceptional brilliance. Very fine effervescence.

    Remarkably elegant, the first nose is discreet and very fresh. The first notes are floral and sweet, reminiscent of honeysuckle and acacia flower. As the wine opens up, it reveals fruitier nuances of dried figs and also frangipane. The Pinot Noir asserts itself after a few seconds with aromas of violet and blueberry. 

    On the palate; very straight and exceptionally mineral, the structure of the wine is velvety, reminiscent of Champagne chalk. The balance is perfect. Notes of lime blossom and flaked almonds mingle with the fig aromas detected on the nose. A sign of great maturity after more than twelve years of ageing in the cellars, hints of toasted bread add complexity to this cuvee.  

    The finish is a perfect balance between tension and gourmandize through a dash of pink grapefruit.

    Wine & Food Pairing: 
    This gourmet wine par excellence is an ideal pairing for many dishes. With its structure and natural freshness, it will enhance rich dishes such as foie gras or white meat in a sauce. 

    At the end of the meal, it will be perfectly paired with an 18 month matured Comté cheese.
