    Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1995


    This 23-year-old whisky is crafted from an innovative assemblage of rare whiskies, matured in ex-bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks. Both of these unite with a third experimental parcel finished for more than a decade in prestigious Margaux red wine casks. 

    We distilled this whisky's smooth spirit in Scotland's tallest stills, the year Dr Bill Lumsden, our Director of Whisky Creation, joined Glenmorangie. Our whisky had sparked his love for single malt long before. And he was confident that our Distillery would embrace his enthusiasm for discovering new tastes, granting him the freedom to experiment. Decades on, his devotion to Glenmorangie as strong as ever, Dr Bill was inspired to recall the entrepreneurial zeal of his early days, in a whisky which had shared his journey through the years. 

    With a parcel matured in bourbon casks since 1995, he would evoke our signature smooth, citrus style. To contrast, he would choose another classic parcel, long finished in oloroso sherry casks, for spice and honeyed sweetness. Then he would unite those whiskies with a third, experimental parcel finished for more than a decade in prestigious Margaux red wine casks. Used just once before at Glenmorangie, these casks would bring berried, chocolate notes to the assemblage, embodying our commitment to innovation. 

    Shared with the world 23 years after it was distilled by Dr Bill, Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1995 magnificently reflects his visionary expertise. The whisky displays all the maturity and structure that age offers, complemented by an elegance only skill can bring. Wonderfully integrated, its vivacious assemblage is a celebration of the zesty complexity for which our spirit has always been adored. And, through the rare richness of the wine casks, shines the pioneering distinction with which Dr Bill's finest creations surprise and delight.

    Introduction:
    Glenmorangie's whisky makers use endless imagination and five key ingredients - wood, water, barley, yeast and time - to dream up delicious single malt whiskies. They've been honing their craft for more than 175 years. They create a delicate and fruity spirit in stills as tall as a giraffe to allow for more taste and aroma. Led by Director of Whisky Creation Dr Bill Lumsden, this crackerjack crew are on a mission to bring new flavours and possibilities to the world of single malt.

    The Bond House No.1 Collection's vintage expressions are all exceptionally fine and smooth. The series celebrates Glenmorangie's most prestigious aged whiskies with particularly delicious results. It is named after Bonded Warehouse No. 1 - the largest of Glenmorangie's traditional 19th-century warehouses - transformed into the Distillery's majestic new still house in 1990.

    Releases:
    Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1990, released in 2016, won first place at the International Whisky Competition (IWC), in the category Single Malt Whisky (Highland) and gold medals at the International Wine and Spirits Competition and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. 

    Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1989, released in 2018, was rewarded with a gold award at the International Spirits Challenge. At the IWC, it won Best Single Malt Scotch 25 Years and Over.

    Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1993, released exclusively in Travel Retail in 2018, was awarded gold at the 2018 Global Travel Retail Spirits Masters. 

    Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1991, released in 2019, was named Whisky of the Year by the IWC in 2019.

    Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1995, released exclusively in Travel Retail in 2020, received gold medals at the ISC and the SFWSC in 2020.

    Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1996, also released in 2020, was awarded gold medals at the IWSC and ISC in 2020, and won Best Highland Single Malt and Best Single Malt Scotch Whisky 19-24 Years at the IWC. 

    Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1997, released in 2021, won a double gold at the SFWSC, and was named Best Single Malt 19-25 Years by the IWC and Best Highland Single Malt.
